There is growing recognition in the international development community of the role trade can play in assisting sustainable economic growth in developing countries, as well as the importance of this in both eradicating poverty and empowering people in developing countries to help themselves. Traidlinks works to engage the Irish business community in promoting trade and enterprise to diminish poverty in the developing world.
''We know from our own experience that reducing poverty needs strong economic growth and a vibrant private sector. We will work together with Irish Industry and partner companies in Africa to promote trade, investment and technology transfer’'.
Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern T.D. at the United Nations General Assembly, September 2005.
Based on our Company Charter, Traidlinks uses a set of criteria to decide what projects to support. Traidlinks only operates with companies who commit to achieving the standards of the UN Global Compact, and who display appropriate progress in achieving those standards.
“here is a role for Irish business. The importance of the private sector in the fight against poverty is increasingly being recognised. Local businesses in developing countries can benefit from contact with appropriate business partners, who can offer expertise, investment and support.”
